  1. Photography issues & discussion -- based on a couple of short films.

  4. Using the NIK Silver Efex module
  5. Social

If you haven't done so yet, please send a quick email to reelstories@rogers.com and let me know if you're coming, not coming, or maybe coming to the January 3rd meeting.  This information will help with the January 3rd setup.

Cheers,

Ronen & the APLCC Steering Committee

APLCC Holiday Message 2018/2019 and Information About Next Meeting

Hi everyone,

I just want to wish everyone a wonderful and joyous holiday season and all the best in the new year.

I also want to remind everyone that the next camera club meeting will be on January 3 between 7 and 9 PM in the Magna room of the Aurora public library.

Which brings me to the agenda of the next meeting. We've got a number of things planned for January 3rd, including just spending a bit of time socializing. Given the fact that we're going to have two meetings in January (January 3, and 31) we're going to hold off doing the Monthly Challenge for January until the second meeting.

Just a reminder that the Monthly Challenge for January 31 is "Black & White" photography.  Your goal is to take an image and convert it to a black and white photograph using your tool of choice.  For this Monthly Challenge please upload the colour image as well as the black and white image that you created so that we can compare the two during the critique.

Also, if you don't mind please send a quick message to reelstories@rogers.com to let me know if you plan on coming to the January 3rd meeting.  Given the busyness of this time of year I just want to get a sense of how many people will be there.

On behalf of myself and the members of the steering committee be well and have a wonderful holiday.  We're looking forward to seeing you all in the new year.

APL Camera Club Meets This Thursday November 29, 2018

Hi Everyone,

The APL Camera Club will be meeting this Thursday, November 29, between 7-9pm in the Magna Room of the Aurora Public Library.

ON THE AGENDA

  • Presentation -- Creative ways to convert your images to Black & White.  (Stephen Morley)
  • Presentation -- Using Lynda.com to enhance your photography.  (Doug Underwood)
  • Monthly Challenge Critique -- My Pet or Something Noticed.  (Rhodri Ford & David Eaton)
  • Round Table Discussion -- Bring your questions.
  • And More...

MONTHLY CHALLENGE

You only have a few days left to upload your Monthly Challenge image.  There are two things for you to choose from -- My Pet or Something Noticed.  For the My Pet option your goal is to capture either a humorous image of your pet or do a portrait of your pet.  Or, if you have another way that you want to represent your pet you can do that as well.  The only absolute requirement here is that your pet is somewhere in the image.  If you don't have a pet or an animal to photograph you can go with the Something Noticed option.  For this, your goal is to photograph something that you would typically ignore or not give much attention to and try to do so in as interesting and creative way as possible.

I reconfigured the site to allow only one image to be uploaded per month to the  Monthly Challenge gallery.  Please let me know if you encounter any issues uploading your image.

APLCC Meeting Reminder -- November 29, 2018

Hi Everyone,

This is a quick reminder that the next meeting of the APL Camera Club will take place on November 29, 2018 between 7-9pm in the Magna Room of the Aurora Public Library.

MONTHLY CHALLENGE

Please upload your Monthly Challenge image at your earliest convenience.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:  For this month's challenge I made it possible to only upload one image.  I did this to avoid spending time deciding which image we will discuss and thereby giving more time to the one image that has been uploaded.

Next APL Camera Club Meeting -- Thursday April 26 at 7:00pm

Hi Everyone,

This is a reminder that the next APL Camera Club meeting will be held on April 26 between 7- 9 pm in the Magna Room of the Aurora Public Library.

The following items are on the agenda:

  • Rafael Payan -- Will do a presentation on a Photoshop-like application that you can get for free.
  • Doug Underwood -- How to buy and sell used camera equipment.
  • Ronen Grunberg -- Presentation on Contemplative Photography.
  • Monthly Challenge Critique -- Winter Photograph/Light Spirograph

MONTHLY CHALLENGE

Given the fact that we didn't have time to do the Monthly Challenge Critique last month, I think it would be best if we put off the Monthly Challenge given out at the last meeting until our meeting in May.  This gives you all another month to submit your images.  So the Monthly Challenge for the May meeting will be one of the following three options:   Long Exposure, Double Exposure, or Dollar Store Challenge.  I will explain these in a bit more detail during the meeting on Thursday.

Anyway, be well and I'm looking forward to seeing you all on Thursday.
