Hello Everyone,
I hope that you're all enjoying the fine summer weather and are out there busily taking amazing photographs to share and discuss when we resume regular meetings on September 24.
Over the past month or so I've committed myself to learning how to do time lapse photography and it's been quite a ride. I've always been interested in the time lapse aesthetic and so I decided to dedicate a bit of time to learn how to do it properly. I must say it's been quite a learning curve, but I think that I've overcome the most difficult roadblocks and have now developed a workflow that actually works.
One aspect of time lapse that's quite arduous is the incredible amount of time that it takes to finish a very short video. The process requires that you go out there and shoot each individual photo and then process each photo before compiling the hundreds (sometimes thousands of photographs) into a finished video.
Over the past month I've managed to complete two time lapse videos that I'd like to share with you. The first called Canada Day 2015 Timelapse Test (I know, not the most exciting title! ) was just an experiment (getting my foot in the water so to speak) and was shot on July 1st at the Newmarket Canada Day celebrations. You can find the video here.
The second time lapse was shot mostly around Aurora (and also a bit in Newmarket) and is called Aurora and Neighborhood. You can find this time lapse here.
One consequence of my time lapse adventure is that I've become addicted to clouds, as you'll see in the videos! They make great subjects for time lapse photography and can look really cool.
MONTHLY CHALLENGE
Please remember to upload your monthly challenge photos before the first meeting of the season on September 24. The Monthly Challenge Gallery is ready to accept your images and the challenge for the first meeting is a simple one: Summer 2015 -- Landscapes/Fun/Bustling City. Looking forward to seeing your images.
APLCC MEMBERSHIP
On a final note, for those of you who have moved on and are no longer interested in the APL Camera Club or the newsletter please let me know via email so I can remove your name from the mailing list and delete your online account.
Enjoy the rest of the summer.

On page 3 of the "Borealis" library events flyer, I notice the APL Camera Club is featured for 2 pm with a "Photography as Fine Art" activity workshop. Do you have any details regarding that?
Hi Barry,

Hi Barry,
Sorry for the late reply on this.
Yes, on the 26th of September there's going to be a one hour presentation by a few people from the club (including myself) on the relationship between art and photography.
In essence, we're going to show how to make photographs more artistic, as well as discuss the historical debate that photography and fine art have engaged in regarding whether or not photography can be called art.
The presentation will consist of the following:
1. Setting the stage -- Is Photography Art?
2. The Art of Transformation -- Applying Artistry to a Photograph.
3. The Art of the Book -- Transformation into Art Through Compilation.
4. Let's Hang It -- The Art of Printing and Framing.
5. The Art of Portraiture.
6. The Art of Photography & Music.
7. Final Words.
Hopefully you'll be able to make it to this. It would be great to see you there.
All the best.
Ronen
