Old Panasonic DMC-FZ50 has been resurrected!

I've had an old Panasonic FZ50 for years and have until recently reluctantly treated it as "an ISO 100" camera due to its infamous "smearing" and "artifacts" at higher ISO speeds.

However, I recently acquired PS Elements 11 and when loading the camera's RAW files into CAMERA RAW 7.4, I was quite pleased.

I noticed that with the camera menu's settings all at "LOW" and the ISO at 800, the RAW files still bore substantial adjustment settings as shown in the following 200% magnified section ...

After I re-adjusted the settings, the "artifacts" were reduced substantially, as shown in the following section ...

The area of the image shown here is only 500 x 400 pixels out of the images full 3648 x 2736 pixels, handheld at 1/125 second at f4.5 and at 81mm (equivalent to 380mm). So now I'm considering the FZ50 as a resurrected ISO 800 camera! After all these years, I can finally do some decent shots with it!
