Christmas Market Walkabout

Hi Everyone,

CHRISTMAS MARKET WALKABOUT

The next APL Camera Club walkabout will be on December 14, 2013,  to the Toronto Christmas Market located at the Distillery Historic District.  To get a sense of what it's all about you can visit the website and look at the video there that gives you taste of what you can expect.  The following is a link to the same video on YouTube:

We will meet at the Tim Horton's on Wellington (304 Wellington Street East), next to St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic School, in Aurora) at 3:30 pm and depart for the Distillery at 4:00.  Since there was quite a bit of interest in this walkabout we may need to take a couple of cars.   I'll be able to give at least 3 people a ride.

Pay parking is available at several locations in and around the Distillery District:

  • Parking lot at northeast corner of Parliament Street and Mill Street; enter off of Mill Street.

  • Parking lot on west side of Parliament at Mill Street; enter off of Parliament Street just north of Mill Street.

  • Parking lot on south side of the Distillery District; (1) enter off of east side of Parliament Street, south of Mill Street, or (2) enter off of west side of Cherry Street, south of Mill Street..

At the Distillery we will meet in front of Balzac's Coffee Roasters coffee shop.  Depending on the number of people at this walkabout I suggest that once we get to the distillery we break up into smaller groups of 2 or 3 people.  We can go around and photograph at our leisure (please check out the Toronto Christmas Market Photo Contest below)  for a couple of hours and then meet at Mill Street Brew Pub where I made reservations for 8:30pm.

I would expect that we would head back home by around 10:00 - 10:30 pm.

To sign up for this walkabout go to the signup page.  Please be aware that you will not be able to see the signup form unless you are logged in.

TORONTO CHRISTMAS MARKET PHOTO CONTEST

Last year, the Toronto Christmas Market ran a photo contest, which they are repeating again this year.  Here's some information directly from their website:

Last year thousands rediscovered the magic of Christmas through their camera lenses at the Lowe's Toronto Christmas Market.

This year, Toronto.com & the Toronto Christmas Market are once again in search of a photograph that captures the true essence of the magic that is rediscovered over the 17 day event.

Winner will receive $250 cash prize
2nd place will receive $150 Distillery Restaurant gift certificate
3rd place will receive $100 Distillery Restaurant gift certificate

To find out more about the contest you can visit the website.

As usual, this walkabout is weather dependent.  If the weather is such that the walkabout has to be canceled you will be notified.  This will only happen, however, if you have officially signed up.

Looking forward to seeing you on December 14.

Ronen
