And now for something completely Different.

The most interesting Stone in the Graveyard reads George Stafford born in Ireland April 19. 1878 was killed by Theshing Machine in Kevin Watsons Barn Aug 10 1904 I am not sure on the first name as I was relying on the camera to help Me with that and I did not read it fully onsite, I hope You enjoy these almost all are HDR and all have had work done to them whether or not they are HDR and almost all are from My 40D with the 70-200 2.8 Canon lens mounted.

This post I am just letting the Images Speak to You whatever You want them to Say!!!

How are all of the Shutterbugs?

Speaking of Bugs

I was up on the Carden Plain on Monday I took a day off to go and get baked by the June sun My destination was the Carden Plain but I stopped by the Kirkfield liftlock as I had to drive under it to get there on the route I inadvertently chosen to get to the Carden, and was all over it I spent about two hours there, I was starting to melt up top I had been by there in colder parts of the year and never stopped or taken the time to go up top, but that is not the subject of this post,  Dragonflys are I will never think of them in the same way again I had for some time though there were large dragonflys but never gotten close enough to confirm this thought till Monday  when I turned the camera onto what I thought was a blue flower and was I in for an awakening, I was of the mind to run they looked that menacing in the viewfinder, or perhaps it was that large thing on the front of the camera, at an rate they would comfortably take up the whole hand that is how large these were, My thoughts of Dragonflys have been altered forevermore, I am sure they did not want to let Us know they were there so don't let to many people know that You know they exist.

It looks like these are Canada Darner Dragonflys a Male and a Female that seem to be doing what Males and Females sometimes do.

Rick

Hello To Everyone

I have sent My Sigma 70-200 2.8 out two times for the same reason the aperture is not functioning and this has taken four months and I have had enough of this so I went out to Henry's today and bought the Canon version of same 70-200 and I am Amazed once again especially with the lens I have been using in the interm a  70-300mm F/4-5.6 APO Macro and well it's not fun anymore regardless of the reviews. so now things other than the pocketbook are back as they should be as far as picture taking is concerned, now all I need is a teleconverter that's only a mere 500$ or so, it never ends it seems just one more item and things will be fine and well fooled again. now all I have to fight with is the 7D itself it needs to get in line with the lens so it seems some changes made in picture style need to get put back closer to were they were at factory default a few more shoots and We will get it tuned up.

I hope You Enjoy the posts taken with the new lens on the 7D

Regards

Rick

Pentax Optio

Hey Rick,

Is that a point and shoot type camera?  It does a pretty decent job of magnifying the coins.  What prompted you to go out and buy it?  Is there a specific context you're going to be using it in?

Point and shoot

Hello Ronen

Are You ready for a busy meeting?

Yes it is a point and shoot Ronen, It was aspur of the moment and the reasons I purchased it are it goes to 12 meters in water and it had that function to place it over a small object and microscope it as that is what Pentax calls it microscope mode. it has a wireless remote separate part that works the shutter I would like to explore a bit of on shore under water this year and it is a cheap platform to start with, remember I spoke about the Gopro camera and You mentioned it was not that great at stills and it does not have microscope mode either

See You soon Ronen

Interesting Dragonflies Photos

Hey Rick,

Wow, those dragonflies look huge!  I can see why you might have wanted to run away.

The area looks really swampy.  It looks like there might have been lots of other things to shoot there as well.

You've got some good dragonflies photos there.

plant/flower

Hi Rick

The flower with the round beautiful long body is in the " Onion Family" I used them a lot when I did "Architecture Floral Displays" It's a hard flower to use but judges like them and gives you  points. I'll try to fiend the name.

I tried to dry them, but do not work.

I understand what you are telling me about a good camera. I went to Black's and David (the manager and photographer also) showed me -  a Canon T31 12.2 CMO with a 2.7 screen - 3,7 FPS for a sale price of $529.99.

What do you think? I don't know the first think about this.

Onions & T3is

Hello once again Jyyte

Thanks for the info on the species but that was not the issue it is the specific name for this plant I was looking for, Claire said it on the Day but I have forgotten it, as for this camera it will bring You into a full fledged DSLR with the interchangeable option and all this entails and what I mean by this is it is just the start to the constant upgrade or quest curve to do better and better with what You have or plan to acquire, So the short answer is it will provide better images than what You have now markedly better but it is the thin edge of the wedge in the wallet department so just beware, You also did not mention any lens details as You may know Sean bought a kit with two lenses look into this avenue as well Jyyte.

You are on the way to spending more and You need to confirm Your continued commitment to this hobby before carrying though with this next step!!!

Regards

Rick

Thank you for your input.

Ronen Grunberg's picture

Hi Rick,

Hi Rick,

You've put up some nice graveyard shots. I especially like the following:

  • The first image--path lined with trees.  I like the way the shadow falls on the ground and seemingly endless path.  It seems to suggest a path to eternity.
  • I also like the B & W image of the chair.  It looks as if you've added some sort of filter to it.  Am I correct?

I also get the impression that many (if not all) of these images have been HDR processed.

Ronen

Photographer on the Loose's picture

Hello Ronen

As Always Ronen Thanks for Your Welcome Comments, Yes I belive all of them posted about the Graveyard are HDR There may be one or two that are not I spent two evenings fiddling with that post and the traffic post , I got off lucky with the traffic post I did not do any but the first image in HDR and all the rest were given a batch tuneup in Lightroom as all were at about the same sort of light level and I think for the most part it came off Ok but time is of importance as well so I could not see Me sitting here another evening tweaking all of them as the jist of the post was the variety of conveyance that travels the Hyways almost all the time and we realy take no notice of them, it is sort of like sitting on Dixie rd watching the Aircraft take off with this being much closer to Home.

Hope You are having a Good Week Ronen.

Regards

Rick
