Cheltenham Badlands - August 12 Reminder

Hello Everyone,

This is a reminder that the Cheltenham Badlands walkabout is slated for Sunday August 12.  If you would like to participate in this activity please don't forget to sign up here.  Just a reminder that you will not be able to see the signup form until you're logged in.

Because our usual Tim Hortons meet up place is under renovation, for this particular trip we will meet at the Tim Hortons on Bayview Avenue (15360 Bayview Ave).  We will meet at the usual time -- 9:30 am.

I see this walkabout as a bit of an adventure since I have never been at the Cheltenham Badlands.  All I know about it is what I've read on the web.  From what I gather it is quite a place and definitely a photo opportunity.  I would estimate that we will probably not stay for more than an hour and a half at the badlands (unless, of course, there is more to see there than I realize).  Assuming that an hour and a half is going to be the upper limit of our stay I have taken it upon myself to make some plans on what we should do after our time here.

So here is the itinerary:

  1. Meet at the Bayview Tim Hortons (15360 Bayview Ave) at 9:30 am.
  2. Drive to Cheltenham Badlands -- about an hour and fifteen minutes -- arrive at around 11:00 am.
  3. Stay at the Badlands for about one and a half hours -- to approximately 12:30 pm.
  4. Find a place nearby to have lunch.  One possibility is the Caledon Family Restaurant which seems like a decent and inexpensive place located on the way to Belfountain.
  5. Drive to Belfountain Conservation Area -- about a fifteen to twenty minute drive.  This is a very pretty place with lots of photo opportunities.  I visited here a few years back and it's definitely worth a look.  The only issue is that there is a $5 admission fee so please be aware of this.
  6. Stay at Belfountain for two hours or so and then make our way back home.

If anyone has any other suggestions or ideas for the day please post on the sign up page.

Whether we will need more than one car will depend on how many people sign up.  I'm planning on driving and will be more than happy to give a lift to as many people as will fit in my car.

See you on Sunday.
